North Lake Tahoe Needs Traffic Relief According To Squaw Valley CEO Andy Wirth

Waiting for hours in traffic has become an American pastime in cities across the United States. According to a recent survey, the average driver in the most congested traffic cities in the country wastes more than 10 hours a week sitting in traffic. California seems to be the state where traffic is the worst. Los Angeles is the most congested city in the country, but now Northern California cities like San Jose, San Francisco, and the Napa Valley on the list.

According to a report from Bloomberg, it says that the traffic flu has even affected North Lake Tahoe. Andy Wirth, the CEO of the Squaw Valley Ski Resort is pushing the county planning commission, and the Board of Supervisors to take action and correct the problem. Wirth has been instrumental in formulating a redevelopment plan for North Lake Tahoe, and the plan is in the final approval stage.

Wirth is also overseeing a renovation plan for the Squaw Valley Ski Resort that will help ease a little of the congestion near the resort. The ski industry has experienced a few bad seasons over the last five years. The California drought hurt the industry especially hard in 2015, but the winter of 2016 was better. Andy Wirth wants to make sure that the 2017 season and the seasons beyond that are free from the traffic issue. Traffic is causing ski resort guests to wait for hours to reach their destination.

Andy Wirth is a hands-on leader. He has been in the outdoor recreation business for almost three decades.

Wirth came to the Lake Tahoe area in 2010 to oversee the $70 million renovations of the Squaw Valley Ski Resort. Wirth has been active in the Lake Tahoe community ever since then. His list of personal, and business accomplishments have been well-publicized.

He is a member of the board of the airport authority in the Reno-Tahoe area, and he is also on the board of several non-profits in the community. Wirth is focused on making Lake Tahoe a congestion free destination during the ski season as well as during the spring and summer. Squaw Valley Ski Resort is a top ski destination and Wirth wants to keep it that way.
